One of the yoga blogs I read is Grounding Through the Sit Bones. It's Iyengar-focused, which I like, because most of the ones I've found have been Ashtanga-focused. That's fine, but it's not my discipline. (I do love Yoga Gumbo, though.) Go take a look. She just started a thing of practicing a specific pose… Continue reading Pick a pose – Adho Mukha Svanasana

Motivation
Oh, I'm really goofing off this morning! An old Fred Babb poster just popped into my head. It's the one that says "Go to your studio and make stuff." Only I need a poster that says "Go to your mat and do yoga!" Ok, OK, OK. More later, assuming I follow through.
Yoga inertia
All day, starting at 5:30 am when I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep, and then when my aqua exercise class was cancelled, and then when I had some free time after running 10000 errands this afternoon, I thought I'd go downstairs and practice. But I didn't, and now the dog is jonesing… Continue reading Yoga inertia
Two out of three
Yesterday I wrote about the three poses to do every day, but did I do them? Noooooo. But this morning I got up early, went right downstairs and did a short practice featuring Upavistha Konasana (seated wide angle) and Baddha Konasana (cobbler). I had been feeling sorry for myself that I couldn't do more, because… Continue reading Two out of three
Face yoga again
Now that I wrote about relaxing my face, I'm realizing how much farther I have to go. My practice these days remains pretty much the same, and will until the sciatica goes away and/or the Lyme arthritis in my arms and hands gets better. That means I'm getting to know this subset of asanas pretty… Continue reading Face yoga again
Intentions
Intentions tend to go astray, don't they? I always intend to practice every day, but I don't. I'm forgiving myself for that. I'm going to the beach for two weeks, starting next Sunday. Here's my plan: I'm taking my travel mat, which will fold up in my suitcase. I wish I could roll it, but… Continue reading Intentions
Not a real practice
Today I didn't get on the mat. Stuff kept happening. A more disciplined person might have brushed the stuff aside. However, I did do quite a bit of interstitial yoga. At writing group, while we did our obligatory blabbing, I did Trikonasana (triangle), Parsvottanasana (Intense side stretch), and Virabhadrasana II (warrior). Ditto for hanging around… Continue reading Not a real practice
Good day
I almost didn't make it onto the mat today. I got up with all good intentions, and put on my yoga clothes right away. Then I ate breakfast. Then I picked beets, peas, beans, and lettuce out of the garden. Then I washed all the veg. Then I talked on the phone to two out… Continue reading Good day
Obstacles, pushed aside
Yesterday I was quite chuffed that I had a good practice. I did a blend of the Iyengar sciatica sequence from the big (and I believe somewhat inaccurate in its first edition) Yoga: The Path to Holistic Health by B.K.S. Iyengar and Sam Dworkis's Recovery Yoga. I started after I had gone for a walk… Continue reading Obstacles, pushed aside
excuses, excuses
I see it's been two weeks since my last post. It hasn't been that long since my last practice, but close. Out-of-town company, travel, laziness, soreness, between sessions at the Yoga Center. No good reasons, so let's just see how I do tomorrow. I have a couple of topics to write about, but I'm not… Continue reading excuses, excuses
