We're having company this week, and I'm finding it difficult to get my practice in. My practice area is between the guest room and the rest of the house, so I'm sort of in the way of guest traffic. The other problem is that when you have company it's hard to excuse yourself for an… Continue reading A little relapse

Tough morning
Ooh, it was hard to get up this morning. But I did do the right-angle upside down thing, and it was the best. Tomorrow I don't have to go anywhere in the morning, so I can practice at a less onerous time than 5 am. Self-talk: Go Mary!
Bouncing up and down, standing on one leg
This isn't yoga, but it's a nice thing. Get out that big blue ball you got, with every intention of doing daily exercises on it. Sit on it with your feet on the floor, and bounce up and down 200 times. Jill told me about it a couple of years ago, long enough ago that… Continue reading Bouncing up and down, standing on one leg
Weighted and upside down
Creaky though I am, I went to two classes this week. Yay! No matter what, I never work as hard at home. And it is so nice to have a teacher see what you're doing. Last night in Lisa's restorative class, we did two things I can and will do at home. In the seated… Continue reading Weighted and upside down
Where I practice at home
I use the basement family room. The dog is afraid to come down here, because an aluminum softball bat was leaning against the wall and happened to fall on the cement floor just as he was passing by. I'm sorry he's such a chicken, but I'm glad he doesn't come down and get on the… Continue reading Where I practice at home
Quick post
I'm still practicing every day. I missed a day on Sunday when I was traveling, and again on Monday when I was wiped out from traveling. Now I'm getting back to it. Goody. More later.
Sluggishness
Let's see, it must be a combination of the freezing cold weather and the general aches and pains I'm fighting that is making me be such a slug. I have practiced every day this week, but most of the practices have been reeeeeeely slow and not very interesting. It's been a good winter in that… Continue reading Sluggishness
Going out of town
This is always a test for me. My nascent habits tend to go out the window when I'm traveling. But I'm going to try. I can use a blanket from the bed, and use the bathroom or kitchen floor so I don't have to be on carpet. I might stick my strap in the bag… Continue reading Going out of town
Early morning motivational discussion
Me and my better self: The alarm goes off. "Get up." "Ooh, the bed is so warm." "Get up." "Lemme just sleep another 10 minutes." "The mat is calling. What are you going to do?" "I think I may be coming down with something. I'd better stay in bed." "You're perfectly healthy. You said you'd… Continue reading Early morning motivational discussion
Yoga-focus
Practicing every day means I am heavily yoga-focused. Writing about it makes me more so. I want to tell everyone about it, discuss what I did in my practice that morning, talk about the book I'm reading (Yoga as Medicine, by Timothy McCall) and what it's doing for me, find out what other people are… Continue reading Yoga-focus
